The Million Dollar Quartet

El 4 de diciembre de 1956 en Sun Records Studios en Memphis, Tenneesee se juntaron por casualidad cuatro irrepetibles, geniales y carismáticos músicos, realizando una memorable jam session de la que en 2006 se editó un cd para conmemorar el cincuenta aniversario de esta increíble reunión de talentos. He tenido la suerte de poder escuchar el resultado de esta histórica reunión y me he quedado boquiabierto, pero claro, viendo quienes formaban este cuarteto del millón de dólares: Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash y por supuesto Elvis Prestley, no es de extrañar el resultado final. Para ser sincero sólo he podido disfrutar del primer volumen pero enseguida me he puesto manos a la obra para conseguir la edición de cincuenta aniversario que cuenta con dos extensos discos que realmente es la que me gustaría tener. En vista de lo mal que ha empezado este año musicalmente, y lo poco original y trascendente de la propuesta rock’n’rollera actual, exceptuando claro a los abuelos de turno, algún que otro imitador o revivalista de postín y los tipos del folk-country que suelo comentaros, no encuentro nada que me satisfaga realmente, así que no me queda otro remedio que tirar de máquina del tiempo y volver a la época donde un riff de guitarra, el socarrón sonido del contrabajo y una voz de terciopelo arrancaban las bragas de las muchachitas.
