No hablaremos del disco, sino de la portada, grandiosa, los beatles salen por dos veces, con su imagen primaria de uniforme negro,todos iguales, y al lado los que forman la nueva banda, cada uno de un color, cada uno por su lado, eligió cada beatle a unos cuantos personajes, Lennon quería poner a Hitler, se le fue la cabeza,y no le dejaron, claro, en su lugar escogió a Lewis Carroll (su referencia se ve claramente en las letras del disco, como en Lucy in the sky). Además aparece un muñeco con un jersey a la derecha en el que se puede leer "welcome to rolling stones", evidencia clara de que no era tanta la rivalidad ni el odio, sino mas bien puro marketing (los stones también aparecen en el coro de All you need is love, tanto en la grabación como en el video). También aparecen en la portada: Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando,Lewis Carroll, Tony Curtis, Marlene Dietrich, Bob Dylan, Albert Einstein, Oliver Hardy, Stan Lauren, Karl Marx, Marilyn Monroe, Edgar Allan Poe, Stuart Sutcliffe (primer beatle), Dylan Thomas, Mae West y Oscar Wilde, entre otros. Claramente un referente, el disco, la portada, el concepto de disco, todo inigualable. Los beatles tambien realizaron otras portadas muy buenas, y además muy imitadas, aquí dejo mi top 5, solo de los beatles, claro:
1.- Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (67)
2.- Revolver (66)
3.- Let it be (70)
4.- Abbey Road (69)
5.- White album (68)
... y es que el tema de la portada aunque no determinante es un elemento más para permitir al sargento pimienta partirse los morros con el "white album" por el titulo de 2º mejor disco de la historia del pop... Claro que ninguno pordria ser el primero... Ese lo grabarón ellos mismos el año anterior...
